Angostura is one of Trinidad and Tobago's most important rum names, produced by the House of Angostura in Port of Spain. Better known globally for its aromatic bitters, the company has also developed a substantial rum identity, drawing on Trinidad's long sugar and distilling history.
The House of Angostura is now the only rum distillery operating in Trinidad, producing column-distilled rums for both mixing and sipping. Its range includes white and gold expressions, Angostura 7 Year Old, 1919 Grand Reserve, 1824 Founders Reserve and the older 1787 15 Year Old, alongside limited and prestige releases.
The style is generally polished, rounded and versatile, with notes of vanilla, toffee, brown sugar, dried fruit, citrus peel, spice and soft oak. Younger bottlings are well suited to cocktails and long drinks, while the older expressions bring more depth, darker fruit, tobacco, leather and a smoother, more contemplative character.
