Foursquare Rum

Foursquare is one of the most admired names in modern rum, produced at Foursquare Rum Distillery in Barbados. The distillery stands on a former sugar estate in St Philip and was reopened by the Seale family in the 1990s, bringing together deep Barbadian rum heritage with a notably rigorous approach to production and maturation.

The distillery is owned by R.L. Seale & Co., with Richard Seale closely associated with its reputation for transparency, traditional rum-making and resistance to unnecessary sweetening or flavour manipulation. Foursquare produces rum for several labels, including Doorly's, R.L. Seale's and the sought-after Foursquare Exceptional Cask Selection, which has become a benchmark series for serious rum drinkers.

Foursquare rums are typically made from molasses and distilled using both pot and column stills, allowing the distillery to balance depth with precision. The style is often rich but controlled, with notes of vanilla, brown sugar, tropical fruit, baking spice, coconut, polished oak and, in older or cask-strength releases, darker layers of leather, tobacco, dried fruit and warming wood spice.
