Hernö Gin
Hernö is a Swedish gin producer based in Dala, just outside Härnösand on Sweden's High Coast. Founded in 2011 by Jon Hillgren, it was Sweden's first dedicated gin distillery and quickly became one of the most internationally recognised names in Nordic craft gin.
The company is now publicly owned, with thousands of shareholders, while retaining a strong independent distillery identity. Hernö makes organic gin using Swedish wheat spirit, water from its own well and botanicals sourced from Sweden and further afield. Its range includes Dry Gin, Old Tom, Navy Strength, Juniper Cask, Sloe Gin, Pink BTL Gin, Swedish Capital Gin and seasonal or cask-matured releases.
The core style is clean, aromatic and juniper-led, with bright citrus, coriander, spice, soft floral notes and a rounded texture. Old Tom adds gentle sweetness, Navy Strength brings greater intensity, and cask-aged bottlings explore a more textured, lightly woody side of the spirit without losing the clarity that defines the house style.
Hernö has helped put Swedish gin firmly on the international map. Its gins combine Scandinavian precision with enough botanical warmth and character to work beautifully in a classic gin and tonic, Martini or more considered cocktail serve.
