The brand took its modern name in the twentieth century in honour of James B. Beam, who helped rebuild the business after Prohibition, and it remains closely tied to the long Beam family tradition of whiskey-making.

Now owned by Suntory Global Spirits, Jim Beam is produced by the James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Kentucky. Its flagship White Label is a straight bourbon, made from a corn-led mash bill and aged in new charred oak barrels, giving it the vanilla, caramel and gentle oak character expected of classic American bourbon.

The wider range includes Jim Beam Black, Double Oak, Single Barrel, rye whiskey and flavoured expressions, alongside related Beam-made brands that reflect the company's broader influence in American whiskey.
