Teerenpeli Whisky

Teerenpeli is a Finnish single malt whisky producer based in Lahti, about 100 kilometres north of Helsinki. Founded first as a brewery and restaurant business in the 1990s, the family-owned company began distilling whisky in 2002 and has since become one of the leading names in Finland's young but increasingly respected whisky scene.

The distillery works with Finnish barley malt and pure groundwater from the Salpausselkä ridge, using traditional copper pot stills to produce single malt whisky. Its range includes Kaski, Portti, Savu and age-stated releases such as the 10, 14 and 15 Year Old, with maturation shaped by casks including bourbon, sherry, port and other wine-seasoned oak.

Teerenpeli's style is generally clean, fruity and gently malty, with notes of vanilla, honey, citrus, orchard fruit, cereal and soft spice. Sherry and port cask expressions add darker fruit, chocolate and richer oak, while peated releases bring a restrained smoky character rather than heavy island-style peat.

Teerenpeli offers drinkers a polished introduction to Nordic whisky: modern, well-made and clearly rooted in Finnish raw materials. It doesn't so much imitate Scotch as borrow its single malt framework, then express it through local grain, water, climate and a distinctly Finnish sense of clarity.
