The Tyrconnell is one of the established names in Irish single malt, with roots that reach back to the old Watt Distillery in Derry and a name inspired by the celebrated racehorse whose victory helped make the whiskey famous. Revived in the modern era by Cooley, it has become recognized for a style that is lighter, fruitier and more delicate than many richer or more heavily oak-driven Irish whiskeys.
Produced within the Kilbeggan Distilling Company portfolio, The Tyrconnell is built around double-distilled single malt and is typically characterized by fresh fruit, malt sweetness and a clean, gently rounded finish. The range has featured both the core single malt and a number of cask-finished expressions, with Madeira, Port and Sherry finishes playing an important role in the brand's identity, alongside occasional older limited editions such as the 16 Year Old.
