Scent: marzipan; pear crepes; whipped cream; musty muslin curtains at the beach; lovely barley. Mouth: Turnips; brown sugar; crème brulee, cashews; middle of a cinnamon roll with dough that is still a bit raw; Chinese white pepper; sunrise over Paris in the fall. finish: Goes on a while if you smack your lips and mouth a bit. Dies fairly quickly...

Bruichladdich 21 Year Old Oloroso Sherry

Exceptionally beautiful nose of stewed pears dipped in sherry resulting in a big statement. The palate is sweet honey with mild undertones of leather and tobacco. It has a medium to strong finish full of nuts, apples and gentle smoke. An excellent example of getting the best out of maturing in Oloroso Sherry casks.

Bruichladdich Bere Barley 2006

Very light pale straw colour. Intense aniseed hit on the nose and on the approach, mellowing to liquorice with a little water. The fizzy Love Hearts tang from the bere barley is present, but you have to know what you're looking for and go hunting for it; otherwise, it's overpowered by the smoky peatiness you get from any Islay whisky.
