It’s actually more a mansion than a castle, but I digress. The bottler is part of Langside Distillers. Only 12 bottles of this Tamdhu appeared… that’s quite odd. The nose is spring clean and sweet...

Tamdhu 10 Year Old Cream Label bottled 1980s

This is an older bottling of a 10 Year Old Tamdhu, released in the 1980s for the Italian Cinzano. I put it head to head with the current version of the same whisky, recently revived by the current owner Ian McLeod. The nose is quite special. It is sweet, malty, with clear sherry influence, but it also shows a weird egde as if from a swimming pool....

Since Ian MacLeod took over the distillery, the Tamdhu range has been overhauled with a completely new, rather retro look. The entry level malt is this Tamdhu 10 Year Old, matured on sherry casks. I put it head to head with an older bottling, released in its day for the Italian Cinzano. The nose is soft and round on all kinds of sherry influences....

Tamdhu 15 Year Old Dumpy

My buddy Manny was able to get his hands on an old dumpy bottle from the 80s of the last century. A Tamdhu that matured for 15 years. I've only just poured it and the space is already filling up with dark sweet, fruity notes of overripe banana, blueberries and chewing tobacco. It then gently evolves into bright fruits such as apricot and peach....
