The nose is rancid and sharp: I am getting an overriding sense of apple cider vinegar and lemon rinds. The palate is better with warm barley malt, hay, grass . . . ah heck, I can't go on . . . this stuff is a sorry excuse for a single malt scotch in this age and price range. Putting my money where my mouth is, I immediately got two more Tomintoul samples. I will taste them head to head. Let us start off with this 43 Year Old from A.D. Rattray, from a bourbon cask, bottled in 2010. Hmm, yes, again very tropical on mirabel, apricot, peach, mandarin, grapefruit. You name it, this Tomintoul has got it. And so soft, too....
