Dailuaine is a Speyside single malt distillery near Charlestown-of-Aberlour, founded in 1852 by William Mackenzie. Set close to the River Spey, it became an important and innovative producer in the nineteenth century, including an early association with the pagoda-style distillery roof that later became one of Scotch whisky's most familiar architectural features.

Today Dailuaine is owned by Diageo and remains a substantial working distillery, with much of its output used for blending, particularly within the wider Johnnie Walker family. As a single malt it is less visible, though the 16 Year Old in Diageo's Flora & Fauna series is its best-known official bottling, and independent releases have given enthusiasts a broader view of the spirit at different ages and cask strengths.

The whisky is typically weighty, malty and robust for Speyside, with notes of cereal, orange peel, dried fruit, nuts, spice and firm oak. Sherry-cask maturation suits it well, often drawing out richer flavours of dark fruit, chocolate, treacle and a slightly savoury depth that distinguishes it from lighter, more floral Speyside malts.

Dailuaine is one of those distilleries that shows how much character can sit behind the blending world. It may not be a household single malt name, but its best bottlings reveal a substantial, old-fashioned Speyside style with texture, richness and quiet authority.
