Macallan 10 Year Old Fine Oak

Picked up a bottle of this for $43.99 at Aggie Liquor in Fort Collins. Dull golden appearance. Toasted oak, vanilla frosting, honey, butterscotch nose. Definitely some light fruits (apple/pear), honey, creamy vanilla flavor. Yeah, the flavor is kind of fruity. A little bit of cedar on the finish. Kind of fun.

Here’s the Select Oak. It’s a 1L no age statement travel retail offering. It’s made using American oak bourbon casks, first fill American oak casks, and European oak casks that have been treated with sherry. It seems a lot of these no aged whiskies get some pretty elaborate wood treatments. I suppose it’s something to talk about in lieu of an age....

Macallan 18 Year Old Sherry Oak

Wonderfully near-perfect sherry nose and taste. Soft beginning with a tremendous spice character that smooths out to a nice clean finish. In my opinion worth the money over the 12 year. Have yet to have the 15.

I have missed the Edition No 1 and by now it has become so expensive that I’ll probably never get to try it.
