This whisky was distilled in 1955 by Talisker. Bottled by Gordon & Macphail who selected the cask for release under their own label. The bottling strength of this whisky is 40% which is at the lower end of the scale for whiskies. Although these days many consumers are pushing for producers to bottle closer to 43% or 46% there are still some fine lower strength whiskies.

A hum-dinger of whisky, not for the faint hearted! You can almost taste the sea air, this whisky is as rugged as it is smooth. A great everyday drink, but perfect on a cold day.

I do a lot of research before buying a bottle, especially one that costs $80 like Talisker 10. I expected the peat/salt notes that are typical of the Island style and mentioned in so many reviews here and elsewhere. Instead I got an extremely plain ho-hum whiskey. Even the bottle of Bushmills Black I had going at the same time was superior....
